Sabani - Mnandisa: The debut album from Xhosa troubadour, singer and songwriter. This is Pop music influenced by traditional southern African melodies. Astrong feature of this album is the use of female vocal harmony. Sabani was born in a black township outside Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape of S Africa. Genuines - Nights with the Cape Gypsies: Strongly Cape favoured jazz and traditionally influenced pieces from highly respected South African Jazz/rock outfit. Produced by Murray Anderson in Cape Town. This group under the leadership of bass player 'Mac' Makenzie stirred considerable interest in Cape music (they called it Ghomma) in Johannesburg clubs in the early 90s. de Villiers - Liefdesversies: A compilation of love songs by Coenie who is an accomplished and serious Afrikaans Pop artist. He recorded a number of albums for Mountain Records picking up the prestigious industry prizes in the early 80s. A composer, piano player and singer who walks a dangerous line trying to include social comment through popular culture. This album documents a body of work previously only available on vinyl. Zayn
Adam - Love is a Poison: By the time this album was released Zayn was the nearest one comes to being a Pop Star in South Africa. It is a pop rock album, produced by another local star, Tully McCully, which provided considerable success for Zayn at South African radio stations. The track 'You Gotta Live' was voted song of the year by the top pop station in 1991. Included are Zany's versions of two Biddu tracks written for Zayn. MOU702 - 1994 ORDER HERE: |

Audrey
Motaung - African Sun: Afro-Rock from a female singer who later turned to Jazz and Blues. This is her first solo effort after deciding to go into exile from South Africa. Audrey had toured with the group Hawk and with another S African stage show in the 70s when she decided to 'leave home'. She struggled to make ends meet working on the jazz circuit in London for a while. After visiting Germany she struck a relationship with members of the group who back her on this album - Grace. Audrey is an outspoken opponent of Apartheid who sorely missed her homeland. These themes appear in the songs on this her debut album. Re-mastered for this release. MOU7002 - 1992 ORDER HERE: |
